International Student Orientation is a series of programs designed specifically to welcome international students to campus and to prepare students for a successful transition to life in the US. Incoming student receive information about these various programs via their University of Tennessee email account. Information is posted on the International House web site as well. The immigration portion of International Student is covered during the required International Student Check-in Sessions.
International Student Check-in Sessions
As part of International Student Orientation, you must attend one of the International Student Check-in sessions. Please log in to iVols to sign up for your check-in session.
Spring Entry (Students Beginning in Spring 2022) Check-in Dates:
F-1 and J-1 Degree Seeking Students:
- Tuesday, January 4th
- Friday, January 7th
- Wednesday, January 12th
- Tuesday, January 18th
J-1 Undergraduate Exchange Students
- Wednesday, January 19th
Attending and completing an International Student Check-in session is required before you will be able to complete on-campus employment authorization procedures, apply for a Social Security number and Tennessee driver’s license, or complete SEVIS registration/validation. Immigration regulations require that all F-1 or J-1 students must have their SEVIS record registered/validated after arrival at the University of Tennessee. International Student and Scholar Services can complete this process only for students who have completed one of the International Student Check-in sessions.
