Welcome to International Student and Scholar Services!
ISSS is committed to offering immigration advising and support services to our international student and scholar population.
Temporary International Advising Changes and Processing Backlog
ISSS is dealing with a large backlog of processing requests. We are attempting to clear the backlog by implementing several temporary changes.
We will be switching to virtual drop in advising only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This will be in effect until August 1st. Our hope is to be able to better utilize our remote advisors with this change and allow faster processing of document requests.
Virtual Drop In Advising will be available from 11am to 3pm Monday through Thursday throughout the summer. You can join virtually via Zoom at https://tennessee.zoom.us/j/2238501110.
In-Person Drop In Advising will only be available on Mondays and Thursdays from 11am to 3pm in the International House.
Advising Appointments
Advising appointments are available in-person or virtually for longer questions. You can book an appointment on our Bookings page.
For help with advising, please see our guide on Getting Advising from International Student and Scholar Services.
Important Reminder for New International Students
Please note that if you are applying for a Social Security Number, you must print out the electronic I-20 in color and sign the document in blue ink. We also recommend that you take the official Department of Homeland Security Guidance on electronic I-20s with you.
If your department has questions about the electronic I-20 or am employment stamp, please show them the ISSS Employment Letter.
