First Steps After Admission

All prospective international students, regardless of immigration status, must first apply for admission to the university.

Undergraduate student admissions is handled by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Graduate student admissions is handled by the Office of Graduate Admissions.


Once You Are Admitted

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville! Now that you have been admitted, CIE will contact you via e-mail with instructions to set up your iVols account. iVols is your student portal where you will be asked to submit documentation so that CIE can issue you an I-20 or DS-2019. These forms are the official documentation from the university that is used to apply for your student visa.

All international students must show proof of sufficient funding to study at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Please review detailed information about your confirmation of financial resources here.

Scholarship Opportunities There are limited scholarship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate international students at UT . Please note that international students are NOT eligible for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please refer to the One Stop website for more information on UT scholarships.
